Hello, and welcome to my website.
The aim of this website is to collect all lines of succession of the currently existing European monarchies - not just those of the present, but also the lines of succession in the (recent) past. Afterwards, I will do the same think for the recently defunct European monarchies, and perhaps later - though I am not very familiar with them - for the non-European monarchies. I will usually start with the reign of the monarch that reigned on the 1st of January 1801 - the first day of the 19th century. Perhaps later, I will go further into the past.
Because of disagreements between myself and others on the nature of sami-Salic succession, I have limited the lines of succession in monarchies that operate under this system to the first in line to the throne whenever a woman or a person related in the female line to the present sovereign is heir(ess) presumptive.
In order to standardise my page as much as possibly, and because national practice varies, I have assumed that women in general do not necessarily loose their maiden name and title upon marriage (although they might not use it anymore). Therefore, I will list women under their maiden name, titles and styles, followed by the name they might take as wife (for example: HRH Joséphine-Charlotte Princess of Belgium, by marriage Grand Duchess of Luxembourg).
In monarchies that operate under primogeniture with preferrence for males above females, or under gender-blind primogeniture, which  tend to produce an endless number of heirs, I have limited myself to mentionning the first ten in line to the throne. An exception is made when the succession is limited to people within a certain degree of consanguinity with the sovereign (like the Netherlands, where the degree of consanguinity is explicitly mentionned, or like Norway and Monaco, where succession is limited to the descendants of the sovereign and his siblings)
